First order
Review the full order before submitting, then verify its result.
Start on testnet if you are learning the flow. This guide explains the UI; it does not execute an order or imply that every order will fill.
At a glance
Why It Matters
What traders and researchers should take away
- The same display ticker can refer to different spot, perp or HIP-3 instruments.
- An accepted order, an executed fill and a closed position are different outcomes.
How it works
What the product uses behind the scenes
- Trading requires the selected account, supported market and approved trading authority to agree.
Notes
Things to know
- Market execution can slip; a limit order can remain unfilled.
- Testnet validation is not proof of mainnet liquidity or execution quality.
Guide
Steps
- Check prerequisites
Confirm network, master/subaccount, current balances and trading authority. Complete Enable Trading only after reviewing its approvals. Resolve missing collateral or account warnings first.
- Build a simple ticket
Select the exact instrument and choose Market or Limit, Buy/Long or Sell/Short, and size units. Review supported margin mode, leverage, order value, required margin and any TP/SL or reduce-only settings. For Limit, verify price and time-in-force.
- Submit and reconcile
Read the confirmation and submit only the intended order. Check Open Orders for working orders and fills/trade history for executions. Check Positions for resulting exposure; do not infer a fill from a success toast or chart line.
- Manage or exit deliberately
Edit or cancel a working order, or use Edit TP/SL on a position as appropriate. To close, review the close amount, side and reduce-only behavior. Confirm fills and remaining position size after the action; cancelling an order does not close an existing position.

Use advanced execution after the simple flow
Advanced order types add conditions, not guaranteed completion.
- Scaled orders split an order into levels; review every level and total size in the preview.
- Private TWAP submits child orders over time. Track executed size and residual exposure when it ends or is cancelled.
- Chart order and TP/SL lines are controls and visual feedback, not independent evidence of exchange settlement.
Rejected, pending or partially filled?
Inspect the exchange result before retrying.
- For an asset or account mismatch, reselect the exact market and scope and wait for current metadata; never substitute a similarly named instrument.
- For insufficient collateral, inspect available balance and the funding route rather than raising leverage to hide the warning.
- If the result is uncertain, reconcile Open Orders, fills and Positions before resubmitting. A retry can otherwise duplicate exposure.
